Flores, of Rowland Heights, California, was cut over his left eye from a head clash in the fourth round. The round would go from bad to worse for Flores, as Novytskyi dropped him moments later with a right hand. Upon getting to his feet, Novytskyi swarmed Flores, who hit the canvas hard, and the fight was called off.
