Rosie Ponce Obituary – Long Beach, Ca (1939-2024)

Rosie (Rosie) Ponce

OBITUARY

Rosie “Rosa” Marie Ponce, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 85 surrounded by her family in Glendale, AZ on October 6, 2024. She was born on September 3, 1939, in Long Beach, CA to her parents Catarino Huizar and Luz Luna. She is now dancing with the love of her life, her husband, Eugene (Joe) Ponce and surrounded by her siblings (Cipriano, Tito, George, Eugenio, Freddy, Gilbert, Celia) who have passed before. She was a devoted homemaker who cared deeply for her family and was loved by everyone who knew her.

She was married to her love Eugene Joe Ponce (Long Shoreman Retiree – Local 63) for over 60 years, and they met at the early age of 15 at a school dance at Banning High School in Wilmington, CA. They enjoyed their nightly routine of watching novellas and coffee and gossip in the mornings. Eugene Joe Ponce passed away on June 27, 2019, he’s been waiting for his angel.

She was the most selfless person and the word “no” was not in her vocabulary. Anyone who had the opportunity to know her knew that she was the sweetest soul to walk this earth.

She was the heart of our family and remembered everything about everyone. She will not be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Her love was the thread that ties our family together.

She is survived by her children, Emma, Eugene, Daniel and Joseph along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Anna M., Anna B., Jesse, Geno, Sarah, Breanna, Anthony and Ariana. Along with her friends and extended family.

Every day that passes is not easy. To the world she may be one person, but to us she was our world. We love you.
