Fuck LA and San Francisco go to San Diego up the 1 and PCH through Ventura to solvang to morrow bay then big sur then go to the 152 through Pacheco pass and to sonora, angels camp, murphys then go to yosemite and take the trees all the way down to the San Bernardino mountains, check out the desert then head back and go all the way through big bear and head down to disneyland then over to universal studios then go back to san diego on the 5 south real quick to go to the zoo and seaworld and the beach and go home. San Francisco and LA are disgusting hellholes and I wouldn't recommend taking the 5 all the way up the coast bc its boring and dry and only good when it's pie season and when you're in a rush to get back south in the middle of the night.

Questions: I want to surprise my wife for her 50th birthday in July, we never been to the West Coast and she would love going to a nice beach, while I would love to rent a convertible and do this drive. Planning a 4 day trip, where should we fly into, and which beaches are recommendable if we are looking for something quiet?

  11. Redwood National Park is about 200 miles north of Sacramento. I don’t understand what you mean. This is a road trip between San Francisco and Sacramento. Yeah you’re talking about Redwood national park. this route??

  16. You should have mentioned that the road is cut at Regents slide above Lucia and has been for about 2 years. Once you go past Dolan creek bridge you will have to do a u turn and go back to Monterey and then down the 101. You turn right at the Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd which just reopened and that will bring you out on the coast below Lucia, this will take you about 3 1/2 hrs.

  21. What? How can you not stop by Fresno, CA. The 5th largest city in the state. The leading AG producer in the nation. It literally feeds the nation.

  24. I am flabbergasted that you totally ignored Pacific Grove. Asilomar State Park and the lodge there is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever stayed at. And I love Lovers Point. And the old light house. Best place to stay in the area. Not overly touristy.

  26. We did the PCH over 3 weeks in May 2023 & it’s still one of our favourite ever holidays! 🥰
    We flew from London into San Francisco & explored there for 3 nights before picking up our rental car & then heading across to Yosemite NP (absolutely breathtaking & nothing like this in England where we live)
    From Yosemite we drove back to Santa Cruz & then down the coast stopping at so many great places along the way – I particularly loved the Monterey area, Big Sur, Santa Barbara & all the beach towns around LA where we spent 6 nights.
    We ended our trip with 3 nights in San Diego before flying home from LAX ✈️ 🇬🇧

    I watched loads of your vlogs when planning this trip as it was a massive tick off our Bucket List & it made it so much easier for me so thank you very much Chris 🙌🏼 🥰

  27. The first hotel you showed, The Padre in Bakersfield, is also reportedly haunted. Paranormal investigations have taken place there a few times, and staff will share their own spooky experiences if you ask them nicely. I've visited there several times on my travels. It has a vibe, to be sure, but that could also be its age and sordid history. I seem to be a ghost magnet, but I haven't had any experience there. Nice elegant renovations and restaurants.

  30. Years ago I drove SF to LA spending nights in Big Sur, San Simeon and Santa Barbara, with other great stops along the way.
    Loved it.
