@thomasroberts8505
The views from the Surfliner of the coast alone is worth the extra time.
@giuseppecappelluti3626
For me, it's a no brainer.
Taking the train means admiring the Californian Coast.
Taking the plane means admiring… nothing.
@IvandejesusRosilesespinosa-d5o
Amtrak will be happy if you like the train ride fron L.A to San Diego🎉🎉

OMG! This is too good! I am an expert between the best and always fastest route between San Diego to Los Angeles. First, let's get it out of the way: Take the train, I win and you are losers! LAX is a complete MESS! Security, parking, traffic, people congestion, noise congestion, bad tempers, untrained airline front and stations, baggage limits and costs, are a nightmare. Dude, the seats and legroom in the airplane are uncomfortable. Cattle-call service. Airplane = EXPENSIVE. Diving between anywhere in Los Angeles to downtown San Diego is congested, dangerous and impossible to predict arrival time. Many tempers flaring and cars cutting you off. Too many spots to mention, but the Dana Point area is total anarchy. CAR+gas+road-rage+psychiatrist = EXPENSIVE. Choo-Choo! Take AMTRAK, Metrolink to Oceanside, Coaster from Oceanside to downtown San Diego [switch to Sprinter to get from Oceanside to Escondido] and wave (I flip them off – catch me if you can 😆) past the stalled motorists trapped in congestion. At Union Station (Los Angeles) and the Santa Fe Depot (San Diego), there is plenty of available parking, knowledgeable front and station people, no people congestion, baggage storage (no cost) depending on your requirements and claim, perfect train whistle noises and you have people doing the "driving for you." You've got a "Limousine driver" engineer, delightful conductors, clean restrooms, food, beverages and a great views on the Amtrak Surfliner. Make it the best and fastest trip between Los Angeles and San Diego. MINIMIZE or STRESS = A DEAL. NOT EXPENSIVE. Off the cuff, yes sometimes the trains stall for different reasons but still, it's less stressful than the other trips. One more note: Take the classis and legendary AMTRAK locomotive "Sacramento" coupled to the "COMET" cars. < < NICE RIDE!
@BeerusSamaLlama
Honestly the downtown LA to LAX in 20 mins is a bigger feat 😂
@amigajoe
Try doing this during the day and the train will definitely be faster due to street traffic and lax traffic and security lines
@bachstreetboi
Also he took metro to union station, he could have also ubered. Like the other guy would have to take the bus to make it a fair comparison.
@elijahcuevas3805
Now do the same thing but it’s from Sand Diego to Los Angeles
@jlafunk
The Pacific Surfliner from LA to San Diego doesn't get ocean views until you're south of San Juan Capistrano and into Dana Point. Then, it's a nice view until Torrey Pines.
I used to take the Surfliner 2x's a week for 6 months. The only time i had significant delays is at night. A lot of homeless people live in some of the more sparse areas of the tracks and sometimes accidents happen. And those delays can be long. BUT you have that sweet Cafe car serving food and drinks- even reasonably proced beer and wine.
@Inclinelevel5
Outstanding Video! I’ve lived in both LA and San Diego and your video is amazing!!!
@makimoto2386
I never knew there was a flight from LA to SD. But then again, I'm poor.
@karablanca
I found a video on your United ad.
@timtam5088
See here’s the thing most of us just drive to San Diego. 2-3 hours. Leaving at 6AM you’d be there by 8:30 😂
@fcjose31
Aqui tren alta velocidad Madrid Barcelona desde 9€ 2,30 horas los 630 km, mejor que el avion y mejores precios sabiendo comprar, aunque sin saber tampoco es muy caro.

@santiagoreyes619
Going to Hawaii in 2 weeks. We fly from San Diego to lax. Then lax to Hawaii. On the way back it’s the same. I hate flying to I’m thinking of taking the train back to SD from lax but we land at lax at 9:25pm. Is there enough time to make it to the 10:10pm train from lax. Also, is it safe to take the train that late?
@Alexriga
Why there is even flight on such route? 20 min flight for 250$ just WTF 😀
@user-yb3ki4ev1b
Excited to see this video
@Rosemary-aster
SAVE $$$ with TRAIN
@Hubgrass
Airport hassles aren't worth the 20 minutes. I've taken Amtrak overnight several times, the experience is unparalleled, must-do at least once.
@mattc.310
Ride the Pacific Surfliner all the time. Always a great experience. Last one was San Diego to Santa Barbara. The views, the people, the snacks, and my hotel was an easy walk from the station. He's lucky with the light traffic and TSA theatre experience. Train would have won easily.
@gzsandiego
Not really a fair comparison. If Colby had left slightly earlier he could have catched Amtrak 562, the 6:10 AM departure. That would have put him San Diego a whole hour earlier!

I did the Pacific Surfliner from San Diego to LA in 2021…the train I had was much older and not redone. Did they make updates or is that because he was in economy plus? It was a nice ride I'd do it again…no way i'd pay $200 more for 20 min quicker
@ProvoDriveSCUBAsteve
LA’s Twin Tower jail. 3:58
@ProvoDriveSCUBAsteve
Typical 6:00am traffic in the Greater LA area. Nice LA Uber driver🤙🏼. The Surfliner is currently dealing with landslides on the way to Oceanside
@sandiegofun1
Two things: 1) I've taken the train dozens of times from Solana to LA and Santa Barbara. The wifi rarely, if ever, works. Plus, phone service is miserable on the rail route.
2) The landslide in San Juan Capistrano has stopped the train for months, when did you film this??
@floretaliu2596
With the utter madness of the traffic into LAX, I really thought that Colby might've gotten there before Marc could even get out of the Uber lol
@kdubb81
It makes no sense whatsoever to take a flight that short. If you had a 3rd person to drive their own car, they probably would've won, lol.
@Rexy725
What is crazy is that if they would have drove at that in the morning they could have made it faster by car 😂
@adityasane
This might have gone very different if one had departed from downtown LA around 4 pm…. traffic is far worse and airspace/airport congestion is worse as well
@miguelhidalgo9372
Amtrak Surfliner wins! Wrong dude, the seat and legroom on the choo choo train is spacious compared to the cramped cattle call airplane seat. Hungry and no peanuts and water-downed soda in a cup? Grab the whole can, Jimmy Dean egg with sausage or breakfast burrito. Follow up with hot coffee with all the trimmings! Sneak in a cocktail all for less than the $250 airplane ticket while burning fuel as if you're still living and choking in NYC! Dude on the plane, in San Diego, ride the bus directly to the Midway. Taking the plane route, there were so many aggravating obstacles and stressful moments of having to do this and that, I got a headache watching you smile through it. Less stress, easier transportation, and simply more fun on the train. Casual dude on the train, your pal flew economy class, be fair. Business class is pricier than coach class from Los Angeles to beautiful San Diego. For the distance, book the cheaper ticket on the train. GO AMTRAK SURFLINER! 🎉🎉🎉
@andyinsdca
Can't do that anymore, the tracks are closed between San Juan Capistrano and Oceanside (again)
@checkoutmyyoutubepage
4:35 that is still more than a Grayhound bus.
@jsprague2453
One of my main takeaways is most anything blows New York out of the water. I agree.
@herrschlupf
If only the train connection between LA and SD was uninterrupted right now …
@p.nguyen4010
Fun fact. Since this video came out, the storms have caused a landslide on to the train tracks. So, now you can't actually get from LA to San Diego only by train… again.
@ProResMike
Content has taken a nose dive on this channel since they were taken over
@brat32179
As a San Diego resident, I enjoy taking the train through LA up to Santa Barbara. The Santa Barbara station is in the middle of downtown, walking distance to hotels, restaurants, the beach. It's such a fun hassle-free way to travel, the train is relaxing, you can go to the bathroom any time you want, walk around, get snacks, and so scenic. Great option for weekend getaways when you don't need a car at your end destination.
@alexbeuerman7608
Wow… surprised it didn't turn into a battle of which trip could be the most delayed.
@FlyBoyMT
Bro needs to undo one more button and let that chest hair fly in the wind
@NeilSchloth
$200 less to take the train than fly, plus another $50 saved not taking Ubers to and from the airports!
@cfbastian
6 AM start? Replay unfair. Should have been a daytime flight to get the full impact of LA highway traffic.
