Padres Lineup vs Mariners: Fernando Tatis Jr Out

The San Diego Padres aim to secure another series win on Wednesday night, facing off in the second game of three games against the Seattle Mariners.

On Tuesday night, the Padres triumphed over the Mariners, winning 4-1, thanks to Michael King’s exceptional pitching alongside outstanding performances from San Diego’s top three relievers: Adrian Morejon, Jason Adam, and Mason Miller.

With a record of 11-6, the Padres are entering Wednesday’s matchup on a six-game winning streak and having claimed nine victories in their last 10 games. The Mariners, currently at 8-10, had their four-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night.

A victory for the Padres on Wednesday would put them in an excellent position to claim this year’s Vedder Cup.

Padres vs. Mariners Pitching Matchup on Wednesday

The pitching duel on Wednesday night promises to be thrilling, featuring right-handers Randy Vásquez and Emerson Hancock at Petco Park.

Vásquez has emerged as the leading starter for the Padres this season, boasting a 1.02 ERA over three starts (17.2 innings) with an impressive tally of 19 strikeouts against just four walks.

He started the season with consecutive quality starts before falling just one out short in his latest outing.

In contrast, Hancock has also pitched 17.2 innings this season, holding a 2.04 ERA along with 19 strikeouts to three walks. He began his season with six no-hit innings and nine strikeouts, but his last performance saw him give up three runs in five innings.

Hancock faced the Padres twice previously in his career, making his MLB debut against them in 2023 and again at Petco Park last year. In those appearances, he allowed two runs across 9.2 innings, resulting in a 1.86 ERA.
