SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A cooler, unsettled weather pattern is set to arrive in Southern California this weekend, bringing cloudy skies, gusty winds, and the possibility of light rain.
Cloud cover has already increased across coastal areas and valleys due to a stronger onshore flow moving into the region. A low-pressure system approaching Southern California will contribute to scattered showers beginning Saturday and continuing into Saturday night and early Sunday.
The highest chance for rain will be along the coast, foothills, and west-facing mountain slopes. Palomar Mountain and surrounding regions might experience the heaviest rainfall, with some areas potentially receiving close to an inch by Monday.
This weekend, winds will also significantly affect conditions, particularly in the mountains, deserts, passes, and canyons. Expect gusts of 45 to 55 mph, with isolated gusts possibly reaching up to 65 mph. Blowing dust may reduce visibility in certain desert areas, including the Coachella Valley.
Temperatures are expected to be around 5 to 15 degrees below the seasonal average, resulting in a chilly weekend for much of the region.
Showers will diminish by Sunday, though a few isolated ones may still occur in the afternoon. Monday will mark the start of a drying trend, with warmer temperatures anticipated early next week. Another slight chance of rain may return between Wednesday and Thursday, depending on the trajectory of an additional system offshore.
