Trucks, tractors and police vehicles — oh my.
Thousands of people — mostly families with young children — converged on the Granada Avenue parking lot in Belmont Shore on Sunday, April 27, for the ninth annual Long Beach Touch-A-Truck event. More than 100 vehicles, from trash trucks to double-decker buses, were on display during the event, with visitors getting to explore them inside and out.
As the name implies, kids and adults alike were able to climb behind the wheel of these vehicles to check out what they’re like or pose for photos.
Touch-A-Truck is one of the most popular events local organizer Justin Rudd and his Community Action Team put on each year.
The free event, besides being a blast for visitors, also served as a donation drive. Visitors were encouraged to bring a jar of peanut butter or canned tuna, which will be distributed to local food banks; Rudd and CAT also accepted gently used children’s books for his Riley’s Red Wagon Book Swap, 3040 E. First St.
