CDCR Apprehends Incarcerated Person Who Walked Away from San Diego Reentry Program


SAN DIEGO – The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has announced the capture of an incarcerated individual who escaped from a Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) in San Diego County on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

On February 2, 2025, at 8:45 p.m., Special Agents arrested Freddy Rojas at the San Diego-Tijuana border and transported him to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility (RJD) without any issues.

Rojas was most recently transferred from San Diego County on May 31, 2023, after being sentenced to 7 years for possession and sale of a controlled substance as a second striker, with an enhancement for being armed with a firearm.

Since 1977, 99 percent of individuals who have exited an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without authorization have been successfully apprehended.
