Dr. Anish Mahajan, chief deputy director of LA County Public Health, issued a smoke advisory for Saturday evening, noting it would likely remain in effect for an extended period.
Mahajan explained that the fire’s smoke contains significant amounts of fine particles, gases, and water vapor, posing risks to vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
“These fine particles can enter our noses and throats, leading to sore throats and headaches,” he said.
He urged residents to stay indoors during the advisory and recommended that those working outdoors wear an N95 mask for protection.
