You lost me at "moving to LA" . . . been there, done that, and you'd have to be insane. Even the ideal weather doesn't make up for the millions of horrible negatives. After two years of LA, I couldn't get away fast enough. Won't go back, not even to vacation or visit friends. It's a cesspool — a VERY expensive cesspool — inhabited by airheads who couldn't name the Vice President of the U.S. or find Canada on a map. They prove that money can't buy class, intelligence, or awareness — only that Rolex watch and those Prada shoes. And from the East Coast, the flight to Europe is almost as quick — where there are civilized things to do and see, and people who are literate in multiple languages (as opposed to Californians who are illiterate in two languages). Heaven help you if LA is your dream! You will soon approach the zenith of superficiality.

Don't move here. We're full.

"Traffic is something you have to get into living and driving in a big city" I vehemently disagree having lived in many large cities outside of the US and I think channels like city nerd and not just bikes would agree. Cities should be built for people. In NYC, you have bodegas in walkable distances in most buroughs. When you don't have surban and residential spraw you can have sufficient buroughs with bodegas, stores, cafes, and everything within walking distance.
