Large crowds of anti-Trump demonstrators are anticipated to participate in the local “No Kings” protests in Southern California and nationwide on Saturday. Organizers expect this third edition of the nationwide movement to attract the highest turnout in protest history, surpassing the previous two events from last year.
“No Kings” protests have continued because “Trump behaves like a king,” stated Sarah Parker, national coordinator for 50501, a movement dedicated to safeguarding the Constitution and curbing executive overreach.
Parker mentioned that the public is fatigued by escalating gas prices, the unending U.S.-Israeli conflict involving Iran, the initiative to enforce U.S. citizenship verification at polling places, and the unpredictably lengthy TSA lines at airports manned by ICE personnel.
Trump is sustaining the “No Kings” energy “by continually sidestepping Congress, ignoring even those who supported him, along with those who did not vote for him,” Parker explained. “He’s perpetuating this movement.”
The inaugural “No Kings” protest in June reportedly mobilized 5 million participants, as per the coalition backing the campaign. Four months later, the second demonstration drew over 7 million Americans at more than 2,700 events nationwide.
Protests in Southern California have been notably vigorous, with numerous rallies in June attracting an estimated 30,000 demonstrators in downtown Los Angeles alone. During the second “No Kings” protest in October, there were 30 rallies and marches across Los Angeles County.
