SoCal Women Busted At O’Hare With Almost 50 Pounds Of Cocaine: Feds

CHICAGO — Authorities reported that two women from Southern California were arrested at O’Hare International Airport with nearly 50 pounds of cocaine combined.

Vanessa Perez, 27, from Los Angeles, was charged on Tuesday with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and trafficking in controlled substances. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Nancy Ramos from Huntington Park faced the same charges on Wednesday.

According to authorities, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents, acting on intelligence, identified Ramos when she arrived at the airport from Los Angeles on Monday. After a positive canine alert, Ramos consented to a search of her checked luggage, where about 29 pounds of suspected cocaine were discovered.

Agents also located Perez at O’Hare, and she likewise agreed to a consensual search of her checked luggage, which led to the discovery of approximately 20 pounds of suspected cocaine.

The charges were submitted to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, as reported by authorities on Friday.
