Neil Charles LaRosa

OBITUARY

Neil Charles LaRosa was born on October 6, 1933, in Port Chester, NY, and peacefully passed away in San Diego, CA, on August 19, 2025, at the age of 91. The third child of first-generation Italian-American parents, Aniello and Angela LaRosa, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Tierney and Joan Lars. Neil pursued his education at Norwich University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

In 1961, Neil married Honoré (Civita) and relocated to San Diego, CA, to begin their family. They welcomed four children: Nanette, Suzanne, Christopher, and Jeffry. Neil started his engineering career at General Dynamics before dedicating the next three decades to Solar Turbines. His greatest passions were his family and the restoration of antique cars. An active member of the Catholic church, Little League baseball, PTA, the Sons of Italy, and the Horseless Carriage Club, he was truly a man of many talents.

After an 11-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, Neil’s infectious smile, wise counsel, and can-do spirit will be dearly missed. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his four children, Nanette Leonard (Keith), Suzanne Bleibtreu (Adam), Christopher LaRosa (Celeste), and Jeffry LaRosa, along with his 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held on October 13, 2025, at the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside.
