LONG BEACH, CA — A 31-year-old homeless man was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of killing another homeless man in Long Beach in July.
Andrew Lozano was arrested Wednesday by detectives from the Special Investigations Division for an outstanding warrant in an unrelated case, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He was re-booked on Thursday on suspicion of murder in connection with the July 17 killing of 40-year-old Martin Segura.
His bail was set at $2 million.
Officers responded around 11:20 a.m. July 17 to the Los Angeles River bed near the Artesia (91) Freeway, where a dead body was found. Police said Segura had a gunshot wound to the upper body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motive for the shooting remained under investigation Thursday.
