LOS ANGELES (KABC) — The dry Santa Ana winds are set to return on Monday and Tuesday, leading to a red-flag warning for Southern California that begins Monday.
This advisory regarding heightened fire risk starts at 10 a.m. on Monday and extends until Wednesday at 6 p.m. The peak wind gusts are anticipated on Tuesday, reaching up to 40-65 mph in select canyons and passes.
Expected temperatures will largely range from the 60s to 70s, which is not as warm compared to previous Santa Ana events that typically sparked rapidly spreading wildfires.
Los Angeles and Orange counties will experience some morning clouds and fog with an afternoon high of 69 degrees.
In the valleys and Inland Empire, conditions will be partly sunny and windy, reaching a high of 73 degrees.
Coastal areas will feel cooler with morning cloud cover giving way to sunshine later in the day, with a high around 63.
Mountain regions will experience breezy conditions on Monday, with daytime temperatures peaking at just 51 degrees, and dropping to a chilly 24 overnight.
Desert areas will see partly sunny skies with a daytime high of 64 degrees and nighttime lows falling to 21.
