Knife-Wielding Woman In Long Beach Arrested by SWAT: Police

LONG BEACH, CA — A woman who brandished a knife at someone in North Long Beach was arrested by a SWAT team after barricading herself inside her home, police say.

Officers responded about 7:20 p.m. Thursday to a dispute call in the 5700 block of Ackerfield Avenue, near the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and South Street.

Upon arrival, the officers learned that the suspect had pulled a knife on someone and threatened to harm that person, according to Long Beach Police.

“Officers attempted to contact the suspect, but she barricaded
herself inside her residence and refused to exit,” LBPD spokesman Sgt. Bradford Stein said.

“After multiple attempts by officers to de-escalate the situation, SWAT resources were used to safely take the
suspect into custody,” he added.

A further description of the woman, including her name and age, was not immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing, Stein said.
