Janet Halla Trily
OBITUARY
Known affectionately by family and friends as “Jan”, “Sugar”, “Fluff”, “Zeeta Zeta”, and “Mom”, Janet Halla Trily was dearly cherished and will be profoundly missed. She departed this life peacefully on February 21, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Janet was born on August 1, 1940, and grew up in Evanston, IL (just north of Chicago) before relocating to California for her college education. While studying at the University of San Diego, she met JT (Jack) Trily. They tied the knot in 1960 and enjoyed a loving and enduring marriage of 64 years, raising three children in Brawley and San Diego, CA.
Janet thrived both as a painter behind the canvas and as a model in front of the camera. Her love for color shone through her impressive abstract paintings, which captivated audiences at various art exhibitions. Additionally, her radiant smile could often be spotted in the local Brawley newspapers, where she modeled for a nearby women’s clothing store for many years.
A dedicated mother with a youthful outlook on life, Janet took great joy in creating special memories during holidays and playful moments. Her children will always treasure the love she bestowed upon them, just as they will carry their endless affection for her through the years.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband Jack; her sons Tony (Lori Parkin) and Joe (Sandi Wheaton) Trily; her daughter Jolene Wade; her grandchildren Lucas (Tamara), Sean, Claire, Isabel (Trevor Ruesch) Trily, and Jake and Caroline Wade; and her brothers Joe (Toni) and Jim (Jean Anne) Halla.
A funeral mass is scheduled for April 3 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, located at 4212 Jewell St., in Pacific Beach, San Diego. In honor of her vibrant spirit and love for color, attendees are encouraged to wear something bright.
