GKN Aerospace has inaugurated a new 150,000 square-foot facility in San Diego, California, enhancing the company’s global repair network and dedication to sustainable, advanced MRO solutions.

The $55 million investment boosts capacity to support the expanding Aero-Engine MRO market globally.

The facility is located next to GKN Aerospace’s existing engines site in San Diego, effectively doubling MRO capacity in the area. This expansion will provide advanced repair solutions for both current and next-generation engine components, including GE LEAP and Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan models, as well as legacy platforms. Outfitted with cutting-edge automation and robotics, the San Diego facility will improve product reliability, increase efficiency, and decrease turnaround times for our global partners.
With this expansion, the facility now caters to over 400 customers with repair technologies for both civil and military aero-engines. GKN Aerospace’s current team in San Diego, consisting of 900 employees, is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, and the company will continue to invest in developing specialized skills and capabilities.
