FORT COLLINS – Several members of the Colorado State track and field team moved up the program record book at the opening day of the Long Beach Invitational, while the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., came to a close on Friday afternoon.

- Freshman Adam Hellbom continued his coming out party in the hammer throw as he posted a career best with a monster throw of 64.10 meters/210-feet-3 on Friday. This vaults Hellbom to No. 6 in the CSU all-time ranks and into the top 50 nationally this season.
- Finishing just behind Hellbom in the hammer throw standings was Leonardo Ramos, who launched a 63.40/208-0 bomb to crush his previous career best of 59.49/195-2. Ramos asserted himself in Colorado State’s top 10 all-time list, taking control of the eighth spot.
- Tyler Colwell came within a fraction of a second of his 200 personal best of 21.01 – which is fifth in program history – running a time of 21.07 on Friday. Colwell was the winner of the race, joined in the top five by Travis Turner (21.39) who finished fourth.
- A pair of Rams finished in the top five of the women’s 200 meter, with Abigail Groleau running a 24.76 to finish in third while Kaylyn Heath ran a 25.10 and finished fifth.
- Kajsa Borrman was once again the star for CSU in the women’s hammer throw, finishing third behind a 63.92/209-8.
Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa, Calif.)
- Brooklyn Ewert ran a personal best in the women’s 1,500, clocking a 4:34.86 to place 21st in the Open B Heat. Hayley Trotter also PR’d in the event, running a 4:37.32.
- Reuben Holness ran the 1,500 for the first time in his collegiate career, stamping a time of 3:51.32.
- Anna Petr ran a 4:26.01 in her women’s 1,500 Invite Heat race. It was the first time running the race this season for the Ram record holder.
The big week of action concludes on Saturday as the final day of the Long Beach Invitational will take place.
