LOS ANGELES, CA – Investigators in Los Angeles are trying to figure out how thieves managed to break into a Bel Air residence and why their stolen goods ended up scattered in the wind on Monday. The victim, author and financial influencer Amanda Frances, known as ‘Money Queen,’ believes she has the answer: Instant Karma. The break-in was reported in the early hours of Monday, shortly after 1 a.m., in the 15400 block of Milldale Drive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. An armed security guard notified the police, stating that three men had entered the residence and then fled in a black BMW. By the time law enforcement arrived, the intruders were gone, but upscale handbags were found on top of a parked car and what appeared to be piles of hundred-dollar bills were scattered across the street. The burglars might have realized what Frances already knew: the money was fake — props intended for the influencer’s photo shoot. “The intruders ransacked my closet, causing damage to my home, but they left behind almost everything, focusing instead on the prop money when interrupted by a neighbor’s security guard,” Frances stated in a media release. IID Board Slashes Ratepayers’ Summertime Power Bills By 25%
COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — The Imperial Irrigation District’s Board of Directors approved a 25% reduction in power bills for ratepayers between the months of June and September, authorities announced Tuesday. Backed by an $81 million allocation, the Board eliminated the Energy Cost Adjustment charge, a decision that members say will deliver a “more stable, transparent rate structure while directing funds toward real savings.” The Board previously approved long-term rate stability through 2028 on a motion by Director Alex Cardenas, according to a statement published Tuesday. “Our priority is always our customers,” said Gina Dockstader, IID chairperson, in the statement. “This plan ensures real savings, a stronger IID, and a more affordable future for our community.” The utility provides electricity to more than 150,000 customers in parts of Riverside and San Diego counties, as well as all of Imperial County. Big Bear Eagles Are New Parents
Big Bear Lake’s resident bald eagles, Jackie and Shadow, have successfully hatched two eaglets. The first chick emerged around 11:25 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025, followed by the second soon after. The third egg, laid later than the others, remains unhatched but is still within the normal hatching window. Historically, bald eagles visited Big Bear only during winter months, seeking food when northern lakes froze over. However, in 2012, a pair named Ricky and Lucy became the first recorded eagles to hatch a chick, named Jack, in Big Bear Valley. This chick was later identified as female and renamed Jackie. In 2015, Ricky and Lucy raised another chick, named Shadow by local students. Jackie and Shadow have since formed a pair, becoming permanent residents of the area. In recent years, Jackie and Shadow faced challenges in their breeding attempts. In 2024, they laid three eggs, but none successfully hatched. Despite these setbacks, the pair’s dedication remained steadfast, culminating in this year’s successful hatching. The eaglets are currently under the attentive care of their parents. The Friends of Big Bear Valley operate live feeds capturing the nest’s activity, allowing bird enthusiasts worldwide to observe the family’s progress.
