LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach Community College District Board candidate Dick Gaylord formally conceded his campaign effort on Tuesday, wishing opponent Ennette Morton well. Gaylord reached out to Morton Tuesday to congratulate her on her win. “While there are still a number of ballots left to count, the trend has been consistently clear to me – Dr. Ennette Morton has won the election for Long Beach Community College District Board, Area 4,” Gaylord said. “I called Dr. Morton today to offer my congratulations on her win and to wish her the best with her service to our College District’s students, faculty, employees, and local community. She will do an excellent job.” According to the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters, a majority of Long Beach’s votes have been counted. INDIO, CA — A portion of Jackson Street will be shut down for four 12-hour stretches to replace a Coachella Valley Water District irrigation pipeline, starting Tuesday. A city contractor’s work will necessitate the closure of the road between Avenue 48 and Avenue 50 between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday, according to a statement from city officials.
