  1. I watch many train videos. This is why I watch. All scenery, limited talk by the poster, and the sgots outside the train were excellent. Well done

  2. You skipped Arizona, just showing a map! Arizona is more interesting than the farm of illinois.

  3. What dates did you take this trip? It says Feb 2016, but you clearly rode during the summer, late spring or early fall since it got dark at around 7 after you left Galesburg, sunrise coming into Barstow and you arrived into LA right before the Coast Starlight’s 10:10am departure

  7. The Texas Eagle runs from Chicago to Los Angeles and the sunset limited runs from Los Angeles to New Orleans.

  9. Great video over all, great shots of the scene and what to see on the route. However, perhaps consider exploring the amenities on the train as well as the towns and scenery outside.

  11. Outstanding. My wife thinks we live near a train line now. I can't wait for a chance to ride this one. Really appreciate the long format video.

  12. You can always be better as a videographer, let the viewers know you are entering a certain town when the topography or a state changes, otherwise it's boring.

  13. Based on the PA announcements, our train was about 2 hours late. I've here'd of the Chief facing worst delays. I've heard of the Southwest Chief being 5 to 7 hours late at times and on rare occasion being a wapping 12 to 13 hours late. Did I get the delays right?

  17. If you did a video like this using both the inside shots from your actual journey as well as outside shots for both the Southwest Chief and Pacific Surfliner, perhaps you should do video's like this for the California Zephyr, Empire Builder, Coast Starlight and Sunset Limited if you haven't already.

  18. I remember you saying you train was delayed and based on the PA announcements, by about 2 hours. That's not bad for this route as I've seen it being 4 or 5 hours late.

  21. Great video. It made me feel like a real passenger on the Southwest Chief. Also, I felt tired my self as you got to the part where you trains was nearing Albuquerque as the sun was setting after a long journey. I also really liked how you used outside shots of the southwest chief editing them in as your actual went through the places you filmed the Chief. It gives me something else to look at every once in a while, getting a break from just shots of the inside of the train.

  22. The California Zephyr, Empire Builder and Coast Starlight are all spectacular, with the great views of the mountains, but the Southwest Chief tops them all. It is easily my favorite route. I think mountains on the Zephyr and the Builder and the coast on the starlight are cool, but the vast open plains, Raton Pass and desert views on the Chief are by far the prettiest on the network. In my opinion, the Southwest Chief is the Chief of all Amtrak routes and it totally deserves its name
