  1. Viewers Alert: The incredibly slow moving Amtrack Coast Starlight train is an inland train – 92% inland (yes, that's only 8% coastal). If you wish to experience the magnificent coast, stay the hell away from this Point A to Point B vacuum tube. Drive and pull over to as many places to experience as you love – and you will.

  2. Music sucks. Just. โ€”โ€” just tell us about the train

  3. Great description of the roomette! I'm planning my 1st Amtrak trip on the Coast Starlight and I don't know wha I'm more excited about – the destination or the journey! Great background music, by the way ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I would be an okay video if you knew how to mix sound levels.

  5. Great video but dropped the music!!!

  6. Hello. I'm a little confused you're in car 5 thats is odd, facing the mountain? I have car 10 going 3 coming back from San Luis Obispo. Will 10 face the water?

  7. Nice! I'll be on the Canadian version in sleeper class next month. It's a 4700 Km trip across Canada for 4 days and 4 nights – can't wait!

  8. FYI, the cars can be switched in either direction so thereโ€™s no guarantee that even or odd number rooms will be on the right or left side of the train. Thanks for your videos!

  9. great video. Is there a way to make sure the room is on the ocean side?

  10. Also a few notes about track ownership. The tracks from Seattle to Portland are BNSF owned tracks and are double tracked. Shouldnโ€™t see much freight delays here. The exception is between Tacoma and just before Olympia which uses tracks owned by Sound Transit (the regional transportation authority for puget sound). These are mainly single tracked but should not see any conflicts because only Amtrak and sounder use these tracks.

Between Portland, OR and Moorpark, CA (not a station stop but on the outer edge of the LA metroplex), itโ€™s Union Pacific. A lot of these tracks are single tracked which means there can be freight conflicts sadly which can lead to delays.

Between moorpark and la Union station the tracks are Metrolink operated which is the LA regions commuter rail network. Not to be confused with LAMTA, Or LA Metro which has their own light rail and hard rail both accessible from LA Union station (LAUS for short).

  11. Santa Barbara is a pacific
Surfliner stop. Maybe they were waiting for a NB trip?

  12. Amtrakโ€™s on board food is pretty grim, so a good assortment of at least cheese and fruit would be smart. Amtrak riders are good bar customers..
The good clam chowder that wasnโ€™t staples Seattle stops โ€ฆhas vanished.

  13. How much the cos5

  14. Thanks so much for sharing this! By the way you did say Oakland is the first fresh air stop after Klamath Falls, but you actually missed Sacramento because that is actually the first fresh air stop after Klamath Falls. By the way that dessert you had after lunch on day 2 of the train was a lemon cake, are you sure it wasnโ€™t the butter cake? What I knew is that after lunch they had the option of a butter cake or that brownie for dessert. The lemon cake, cheesecake and chocolate cake was the dessert options after dinner

  15. I know the amtrack coast starlight express train from Seattle to Los Angeles home

  16. Looking forward to taking the C.S. in summer 2025. Enjoyed your video!

  17. Tsk
Iโ€™ve done Amtrak from Eugene to LA & San Francisco

  18. Amtrak roomettes are a bit tight for two passengers, but for someone traveling solo, it's just fine.

  19. What was your favorite meal on the train. How many hours of sleep did you get on this train

  20. Itโ€™s not a seatbelt but harness to prevent you from falling on to the floor if your roll over too much on the top bunk, the 2 straps hook into the celling.

  21. Music too loud and voice very low…. please correct this for next videos. Good report tho, cheers.

  22. Found the music etremely annoytng, had to provide my own. Sorry. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿ™โ˜น

  23. Why are you all attached to this train?

  24. Couldn't watch it all of it. The low voice audio and blasting music and background noise made it difficult to watch/listen to.

  25. Your thumbnail has the starlight going up the coast.

  26. Please answer me this why do people always have to show their face when they're making a video about something that's not about themselves

  27. PLEASE normalize your audio tracks. Soft voice then BOOMING bass and music.

  28. Most Coast Starlight videos are northbound, so I enjoyed, EXCEPT for the loud background music. You are soft-spoken, so if I bring up the volume to hear the narration, the loud music comes on. I am watching this video on my MacBook Pro.

  29. Thanks for the video. Loved everything except the music with those fake drums.

  30. That wasn't the Meyer lemon cake you showed, but the butter cake. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  31. Great video very informative. To confirm, you can eat lunch and dinner in your roomette but not breakfast? I guess you go get snacks (pay) from the cafe car, or stock up on snacks from the metropolitan lounge. Hubby is traveling solo for the first time and is super shy, so community eating is not his thing!

  32. I went on Coast Starlight from Tacoma to Sacramento 2 years ago. In my opinion, it is the 2nd most scenic route on the Amtrak fleet, only behind California Zephyr. I would love to ride this again, all the way from Seattle to Los Angeles.

  33. Fun! Iโ€™ll be on the Coast Starlight tomorrow. Thanks for this!

  34. I went on the Coast Starlight northbound in January and then SEA to CHI, in economy, the Los Angeles route was not running for some reason. It started at Emeryville and went north, passengers coming from LA had to take a bus from San Bernardino to Bakersfield and then take the San Joaquins line and transfer at Sacramento or Martinez.

  35. Thanks for another enjoyable video. I like that this was narrated, and I'd look forward to more narrated videos in the future. Can't beat the train for scenic travel. If you have the time, it could be a great experience to see new sights.๐Ÿ‘
