  4. My father sailed to England with the first trip along with 15,000 Australian Troops to fight the Nazi's for Mother England. He told me that when it started to sail, it turned the mud up at the bottom of Sydney Harbour.

  5. Shocking if you can not maintain this British beauty then you should never of bought her.
Why is she flaking paint ? Her lifeboats need to be removed and fully restored .
And this vessel needs to come out of the salt water

  6. Thank you very much Long Beach Council, for buying (and preserving) RMS Queen Mary for future generations.
My grandfather worked as a riveter on her, during her construction at John Brown's shipyard in Clydebank in 1930.
One day, I'm going to visit her and give her forward funnel a great big hug!

  8. She was built just a bit more than 20 yrs after Titanic, so strolling about the QM gives you a taste of what it was like to be on Titanic, though the decor is less formal.

  9. I only had a day between flights in L. A. and road down to Long Beach just to see Her. I felt I walked miles on her. I want to go to spend a week. I'll put that on my agenda if the drug lords haven't taken over yet. This beautiful Lady belongs in New York Harbor.

  10. I was on a destroyer homeported in Long Beach at the time and sat on the jetty and watched the Queen Mary come into port. What's never mentioned is that they actually had a banner across the stern of the ship that said STUDENT DRIVER. Does anybody have any pictures of that?

  20. Thanks for posting this. I always feared going inside because of all the stairs. I had a stroke so I don't do stairs well anymore. I just took pics from outside. I hope you get to do some video of the Biltmore before you move. Have a great day.
