Husband sentenced for murdering Radford High graduate Maya Millete

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man from Southern California has been sentenced to a minimum of 25 years for the murder of his wife, Maya, whose remains have never been located.

Larry Millete was sentenced to 25 years to life on Monday afternoon in a courtroom in San Diego.

He was found guilty of murdering Radford High School alumna Maya Millete, who disappeared from their residence in 2021.

Prior to the sentencing, the defense sought a new trial, alleging juror misconduct.

The judge rejected this motion.

Numerous individuals provided victim impact statements to the court.

Millete also spoke directly to the courtroom before being escorted away in handcuffs.

“I know it’s hard to believe, but I truly loved your sister,” Millete stated. “I miss her every day.”

His remarks prompted anger from the victim’s family, who shouted and cursed at him during his statement.

Millete’s daughter also shared her impact statement in court, expressing her mixed emotions regarding the situation and her father.

“While I grapple with the complex pain of knowing that what he did is beyond comprehension and unforgivable, as his daughter, I cannot stop loving him,” Lara Millete explained. “He is the only parent we have left and the last living connection to my cherished memories.”
