The Chicago Cubs faced a two-game sweep by the San Diego Padres in the National League Wild Card Series.
This defeat resulted in the Cubs’ elimination from the postseason.
In contrast, the Padres advanced to the National League Division Series, where they will meet the Milwaukee Brewers.
Following the series against the Padres, the Cubs signed a Cuban prospect aged 17.

The Cubs have formally signed 17-year-old Rodelvis Santiesteban.
The organization reached an agreement with the talented prospect in June, according to CiberCuba.

Cuban utility player Rodelvis Santiesteban has officially signed with the Chicago Cubs.
Signing bonus: $20,000 plus a scholarship.
Santiesteban, 17, departed Cuba in June 2024. He clocks in at a 6.3-second 60-yard dash and possesses significant contact skills and athletic talent.
Trained in Punta Cana under Jorge Luis Toca at GT Baseball Academy.
He is the 26th Cuban player to sign during the current international signing period (2025-26).
Looking Ahead at the Chicago Cubs
The Cubs concluded the regular season with an 89-73 record.
They secured second place in the NL Central and were the second NL Wild Card team.
San Diego completely dominated Chicago in the Wild Card Series.
The Padres triumphed over the Cubs 8-0 in the series opener on Tuesday and followed it with a 4-1 victory in the second game on Wednesday.
