The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office of San Diego County is mailing out 32,573 bills for property taxes that have remained unpaid as of June 30, as announced by Treasurer-Tax Collector Larry Cohen.
According to state law, any unpaid property taxes will go into default after the tax roll closes on June 30. Defaulted taxes incur a penalty of 1.5% each month, amounting to 18% annually, until the debt is settled. Additionally, a redemption fee of $33 will be applied.
