Former San Francisco Giants right-hander Trevor Gott has signed a minor-league contract with the San Diego Padres as of Tuesday, as reported by MLB.com. He has been assigned to Triple-A El Paso.
The Washington Nationals released Gott, 34, on July 2 after he signed a minor-league contract with them in the offseason.

Gott played for the Giants during the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
In his debut season with the Giants, Gott achieved a 4.44 ERA along with a 1.10 WHIP and 57 strikeouts in 52 2/3 innings pitched.
However, in his final season with San Francisco, he struggled significantly, posting a 10.03 ERA in 11 2/3 innings.
A Look at Trevor Gott’s Career
The San Diego Padres picked Gott in the sixth round of the 2013 MLB Draft, coming from the University of Kentucky.
Subsequently, the Padres traded Gott and right-hander Huston Street to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for second baseman Taylor Lindsey, right-hander R.J. Alvarez, shortstop Jose Rondon, and right-hander Elliot Morris on July 19, 2014.
Gott made his MLB debut with the Angels in 2015, achieving an impressive 2.02 ERA over 47 2/3 innings during his rookie season.
After the 2015 season, the Angels traded Gott and right-hander Michael Brady to the Washington Nationals for third baseman Yunel Escobar and cash considerations.
Gott pitched for 28 innings with the Nationals between 2016 and 2018, unfortunately posting a 7.39 ERA.
The Giants acquired Gott from the Nationals for cash during the offseason of 2018-19.
After playing with the Giants for the 2019 and 2020 seasons, Gott returned to the majors in 2022 with the Milwaukee Brewers, wherein he recorded a 4.14 ERA over 45 2/3 innings.
In 2023, Gott played with both the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets, achieving a 4.19 ERA over 58 innings combined. He has not appeared in the majors since.
In 2024, Gott was part of the Athletics system and then spent the 2025 season in the minors with the Mariners before rejoining the Nationals organization this past offseason.
