  1. It's been a long time since PS was an actual first line party place for the rich and famous. It was, but that gig ended in the 60s, when PS was overrun by underage girls, hippies and anti-war protestors. Many liked it and stayed. Around that time the formerly famous were getting old and were now using their PS desert homes for retirement.

Today PS is just another SOCAL city, with all that entails and proscribes. If that's good for you by all means. However, the place has become a bit too secular for most, people who just want to plop down take it easy. But, who knows, maybe that'll change again soon.

Tramway is a great experience and I recommend it highly. Too bad you can't stay up there, at least I don't know if you can.

Desert fans will always love PS and the general area. It has changed too much and now fans are starting to push south towards the old Salton Sea mess. It may be a mess, but at least it still low-cost and uncrowded. Newberry Springs, for one, has been taking on more visitors than before, and is also reporting people buying houses and land there and moving in.
