I’ve been subscribed for a while now and I just want to say your consistency and quality never disappoint. Every upload feels well thought out and genuine, which is honestly rare these days. Keep doing what you’re doing because it really shows.

These tours are so boring–looking straight at the road and not filming the actual scenery on each side of the car is a bore.

Palm Springs truly is a mirage; a place that should not exist – except for the hubris of humans. One does wonder what will happen as climate change continues to disrupt weather systems and water access…

This is not the Palm Springs that I saw 40 years ago. What a difference. I am from Brooklyn and I remember driving down from Los Angeles to Palm Springs with a buddy of mine. Along the way I simply could not forget all the wind turbines spinning out in the desert. It completely changed the landscape and it was something to see. Before we hit Palm Springs we stopped at a diner, a real old style American diner to grab something to eat. Everyone looked and dressed like they were from small town USA, I looked like a New Yorker. I remember walking in with my friend and seeing people wearing coats. I thought to myself these people must be crazy. It was at least 89 degrees outside. We were wearing tank tops and T-shirts. I am from New York so I am used to the cold. But let me tell you by around 5:45 in the evening I found out why people were wearing coats. As the sun was about to set The temperature dropped like a hammer. Coming from the city It never occurred to me that the desert was not just hot, but also damn cold at night. That was my introduction to the desert and Palm Springs. When we went into Palm Springs there were two types of people there, really young and really old retired people. There was nothing in between. I guess most of the younger people must have left to find jobs and “a life “ somewhere else. The town was very quiet back then so it would make sense that younger people would not have much of a life there. It reminded me of Las Vegas back in the 1970s when it was still underdeveloped and there were still huge lots along the strip that were just dirt and rocks and under construction. See Sean Connery Diamonds Are Forever to give you an idea. Watching your video I see that there have been tremendous changes. There seems to be a lot more modernist architecture. What we were seeing back then was mostly 1960s post modernism and early 1980s trends. Now there seems to be a whole new set of architecture that represents the 2000s. It might even be a “cool” place to hang out now. I cannot even imagine what it would cost to live there. It would probably be the same as New York or more. Thanks for the drive.

Thank you so much for this. I loved all the scenery shown here, so relaxing. The last time I was there was in the 2009 time period passing through to go to Indio for a Motley Crue concert and then a couple months after that, back to Indio again for a ZZ Top concert. It was well over a three hour drive one way from the west San Fernando Valley. Just less than a minute into this video, that very specific desert tranquility consumes me. I do not remember Palm Springs being this clean and with that many nice buildings and especially those really nice upper middle class and wealthy residential neighborhoods shown here. There was part of town though, I don't remember where that was full blown ghetto with dudes giving me the type stare that makes you secretly pray for God to be with you. It was for real something that put me on edge. I can still remember thinking, "What is going on here? This is like some of the more dangerous areas of Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley. These dudes look nasty." In any case, sorry for the ramble. It looks like that city has come a very long way.
@Thewalkingstories
Love to see this video.,Thanks for the tour around..!

I attended UC Riverside, left a meaningful one in the midwest…to make a long story short, when I got back to Italy I wrote a poem: "Domenica pomeriggio a Palm Springs". In that area I sensed a yearning for a traditon, a melancholic memory of something distant..
