  1. What do you think about The Rey? It gets compared to Diega a lot.

  2. Nice work! As almost a native of SD, nice to be updated on the apartments available,
I am currently looking for one. This is not my price range, but I love knowing what’s out there.

  3. Just FYI, some of these corporate landlords are horrible when you are injured so that might be something to factor in other than aesthetics or amenities: Six-Month Update β€” Merian / Brookfield Catastrophic Chemical Burn Case
It has been nearly six months since the June 21 catastrophic chemical burn incident at the Merian.
From the beginning, I moved this case deliberately and on the record. I have prior paralegal experience and handled it the way a competent plaintiff-side firm would. The file was quickly developed: timelines, correspondence, regulatory overlap, and incident-specific, redacted medical records, billing records, and medical codes sufficient to evaluate liability, causation, and damages without exposing unrelated medical history.
Despite that, Brookfield and its agents have offered nothing. No settlement discussion. No good-faith engagement. No acknowledgment of harm.
Instead, the response has been deny, deflect, delay β€” early procedural pressure designed to end the case before the facts are addressed.
Between my mother and me, the medical impact has been severe and ongoing. We have had three emergency room visits and over twenty specialist follow-ups related to this incident. I have permanent facial scarring, ongoing skin instability, and a retinal detachment. Both of us have suffered gastrointestinal and respiratory complications, the full scope of which remains under medical evaluation.
There is evidence suggesting broader chemical use throughout the property. That issue is now within the scope of an OSHA investigation. OSHA has otherwise been silent, except for a November 5 letter to Merian management confirming an investigation was initiated.
Brookfield admits nothing, yet retained institutional defense counsel at Gordon Rees. No offer was made. The message was simple: take us to court. It also took nearly five months for Brookfield to even acknowledge that a claim existed.
A key clarification: a third-party insurance representative demanded a broad HIPAA release as a precondition to any discussion, claiming this was β€œstandard industry practice” for pro se litigants. That demand was refused. No competent plaintiff-side attorney would provide a blanket HIPAA release in a chemical exposure case. Instead, I provided targeted, redacted records and medical codes. No evaluation followed.
Separately, the County required notarized HUD Form 92006 just to review the matter. The District Attorney’s Office has remained silent.
For Merian residents: if you are seriously injured β€” especially by a chemical hazard β€” this is the response you should expect.
I am continuing forward β€” deliberately, carefully, and on the record.

  10. Thank you for these videos! My wife and I live in NYC and your videos have helped us apartment hunt from across the country. We visited in person to check out some units the other weekend and the Lindley became my top choice. Unfortunately I found out through the google and yelp reviews that the Lindley is a mixed use Hotel and Residential building. 4 floors are dedicated to the Kasa hotel. And the hotel guests have access to the amenities. Originally they said the hotel was going to be long term stay only (30-90 days), but that is not the case. I checked and you can book for a weekend.

Most of the negative reviews are talking about how the revolving door of hotel guests are crowding and trashing the amenity spaces. The cold plunge has been shut down for months because they can't keep it clean. Apparently it's become impossible to use the amenity spaces on weekends, and there's a lot of hotel parties (One resident citing a 30+ kid pool party). Apparently security can't do much, because they can't tell who is supposed to be in the building or not with all the hotel guests (One resident cited finding a person sleeping in the sauna overnight).

Anyways, this was very disappointing to find out because the Lindley also wowed me the most. However the big draw was the beautiful community spaces which don't really work for me without a feeling of community. Our new front runner is the West (Best apartment sizes and layouts we saw). I'd rather share the amenity spaces with the office workers who are permanent members of the community, over weekend hotel guests who are paying to not have to clean up after themselves.
