Gloria G. Patterson
OBITUARY
Gloria G. Patterson, age 93, passed away peacefully with her loving husband and family by her side. Gloria lived a life dedicated to her family, faith and career.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Gloria was the oldest of four siblings and the daughter of Antonio and Guadalupe Garza. She graduated in 1954 from Our Lady of the Lake University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Gloria met her soon to be husband, Thomas D. Patterson from Salem, Oregon, while Thomas was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. They were married on October 10, 1959, in San Antonio. The newly married couple settled in Long Beach, California where they established their family and were married for almost 67 years.
Gloria was active in education and taught typing and shorthand during the evenings at Long Beach City College. In 1972, Gloria obtained her California Real Estate license and began her lifelong career as a successful agent and broker in the Long Beach area. She was awarded numerous times for sales agent of the year and served Spanish speaking clients. Gloria opened Century 21 Hunter Associates with partners, Jaye Hunter and Ron Spak, serving the Bixby Knolls and Virginia Country Club area. Several years later, the office joined with Coldwell Banker CoastCo Real Estate in 2001.
Gloria served in the community supporting Saint Anthony High School as President of the Mothers Club, organizing fundraisers such as their annual fashion show and anniversary cookbook. She enjoyed her California life and hobbies such as sewing, gardening, tennis, skiing and playing Bridge with friends. Gloria and Tom enjoyed traveling all over the world well into retirement and spending time with family on annual vacations. Gloria and Tom were parishioners of St. Barnabas, and later, St. Bartholomew in Belmont Shores.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her family and is survived by her husband, Tom; their three children: Tom (JoLene) Patterson, Denise (John) Ferrone, Lisa (Mimi Quinn) Patterson; 6 grandchildren: Andrew (Mylee) Patterson, Gregory (Jaylen) Patterson, Julia Patterson, Christina Ferrone, Nicholas Ferrone, Alexander Ferrone and 3 great-grandchildren: Brooks, Charlie Jo, Brody: sister, Cora Davila, San Antonio, Texas.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 8th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at All Souls Cemetery & Mortuary located at 4400 Cherry Avenue, Long Beach, CA on April 9th at 11:00 am., followed by a burial ceremony
