Other than no skirts, what were the "Expert Tips" lol
@OG29
I'm sad to say this but Midway's last years were a (questionable) failure. She was built to support and operate aircraft of the 1940's and '50's. She was modified to operate aircraft of the 60's, 70's, 80's, & '90's and did well.
She was modified again (1990's) to operate F/A-18 which was a limited success. Additional weight at the 03 level required additional bouyancy at/below the waterline. It all sorta worked but left her rolly in moderate to heavy weather.
She is a legendary ship and I am proud to have sailed in her in several oceans including the Pacific, Indian and (I'm not sure of this) Southern. We were close but I'm not sure we made it that far south.

San Diego rocks
Miss that place
better then some other places I know
@WanderlustmanC
Plankowner CVN-73 here, I went a a board Midway yesterday and really enjoyed it other than ducking my head nearly everywhere due to those dinosaur ships being so small and the smell of JP-5 giving me a headache for the last couple of hours. $18 with veteran discount + $10 for parking on the pier.
@lauriekeiski7121
Thanks for the tips. I hope to visit her sometime in near future. I was the Electronic Warfare Officer on her from 1962 to 1964. Your tour brought back memories. Lt Commander USN (Ret)

SKIRTS!!? The skimpier the better! I spent 2 years aboard her in the 70's. Mucho memories galore! VA 115 Arabs.

@luacreskid
I served on FDR (CVA-42) in the mid 1960s . When I first saw Midway I nearly broke into tears. While still on the pier, I walked past the refueling station 7 and all the memories and hours I spent there came flooding back. Being in engineering I was a bit disappointed in the present status of Main Engines Control where I stood watches. But the rest of the sister ship was very delightful and appreciated.

@davidwright9092
Hey Bianca, what's up baby? I know you don't care about ships but you do care about men… What's going on? 😉 hit me up sweetheart
@racketyjack
This museum ship is absolutely awesome. She barely gives you a tiny taste but it is well worth the time and money. Plan on spending the day. The fantail has been turned into a nice little hamburger shop and there is a great "ship's store" at the aft end of the hanger. The docents were outstanding too. The Midway is separate, and yet a part of, the maritime museum stretched along the waterfront there. Great place to enjoy a day or two. Oh, check out Anthony's grotto; best seafood in San Diego.
