Team Message for Playoff Opportunity

“Definitely embrace it. We’re not trying to downplay or hide from it. Winning is enjoyable. Creating opportunities for exciting achievements is thrilling. Each win increases the significance of these games. This doesn’t mean altering our approach, but it’s crucial to acknowledge the remarkable position we’ve placed ourselves in.”

“And you want to seize this moment. There’s nothing that should impede you from showcasing your very best during these pivotal games. Reaching this point is a challenge each year, and when fortunate enough to be here, you appreciate that. The current level of parity in our sport is significant.”

“So, we’re intending to embrace and savor every moment. It will go by quickly. Fortunately, this team is fully engaged in the moment.”

“I don’t quantify success. My focus is on preparing the team to the best of my ability every single day and each week while ensuring our staff is likewise prepared. Reflection occurs at the end of the season for me.”

“This business is a constant struggle. You wake up ready for the fight, striving to enhance the team, then go to sleep and repeat the process.”

“Currently, that’s the essence of it. There will be suitable times to reflect deeply as the season winds down, but the focus right now is on preparation and seizing the opportunity.”

“He’s a talented returner. He’s had success in both kick and punt returns over time. He’s been aggressive about fielding the ball, and their scheme effectively positions him to perform well. Our coverage teams will definitely face a challenge.”

On Defensive Tackle Carlon Jones’ Increased Playtime

“Absolutely, he’s showing progress. Each week, we gain more confidence in him, and importantly, he’s building confidence in himself. After an earlier injury this season, he quickly showcased resilience and determination.”

“With every game, he’s grasping the level of competition and our expectations more clearly. He’s been assertive, made plays, and he’s indeed set himself up to contribute more significantly now and in the future.”

“I believe D’Anton (Lynn) and the entire staff have done commendable work. Although we haven’t started fast, we’ve managed to tighten things up reliably, especially recently.”

“Both Coach Lynn and the whole staff are clearly communicating. Even while listening on the headset, it’s apparent that many staff members have been together long enough to develop a deeper connection… Additionally, having Rob (Ryan) involved, given his history with Dan, adds depth, which is quite beneficial.”

“We’re performing well. When issues arise, we quickly manage to address them. Our players have been receptive to adjustments, which is essential. We have significant tests ahead, but I’m optimistic about our progression at this moment.”

On Fake Punt Decision by Big Ten

“Certainly, I have opinions on it. We are well-informed about the regulations. I mentioned this briefly during the show yesterday. The execution of the fake punt was completely legitimate. Our players executed it excellently, and there’s not much else to elaborate on.”
