California Governor Gavin Newsom has sent emergency resources to prepare for the potential resurgence of mud flows in the San Bernardino Mountains this coming weekend.

Recently, wet weather led to mudslides and debris flows in mountain communities close to wildfire burn areas. The San Bernardino County Fire Department reported that the slides destroyed three residences in Forest Falls and caused significant damage to another home, with two more sustaining minor harm.

The National Weather Service anticipates rain returning to the San Bernardino Mountains and has issued a flood watch advisory for San Bernardino County and Riverside County mountains, especially for communities near the Line, Bridge, Apple, and El Dorado burn areas, scheduled for Saturday.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) has pre-deployed various resources, including 10 fire engines, 10 incident management personnel, two dispatchers, a hand crew, a water tender, a bulldozer, and an unmanned aerial system operator to assist local authorities in case of returning mudslides and debris flows.
