  1. I grew up in SoCal and I’ve never heard of Cudahy. Thanks for the info!

  2. My dad moved us into Cudahy in 1966. He took advantage of a job program that took us from Anchorage, Alaska. Me and my friends played in the river bed quite a lot!
We then spent the next two decades in San Pedro.

  3. I don’t know if anybody’s ever driven through the town of Cudahy, but I have and trust me if you never go there, you are not missing a single thing except for a bunch of traffic a bunch of people who don’t speak English in a place that looks like Tijuana

  4. You should talk about how the vice Mayor wanted the gang members of that town to get violent with law enforcement.

  5. My parents owned some apartments that my dad kept in a divorce in 1975. When the 710 freeway was extended, he lost it to imminent domain.

  6. I patrolled Cudahy out of the East Los Angeles Sheriff Station in the late 1999-2003. It was a nice Hispanic community ever held hostage by the gangs that were in the area. In 2005 when I returned to East LA wearing a fireman’s uniform, Cudahy was in my battalion. You mentioned the deep lots. The lots are so deep, the Los Angeles county fire department has a hose lay named after the city that we use county wide. Every fireman knows what a Cudahy lay is. It’s where one fireman grabs 200’ of 2.5" hose and brings it down the driveway and the 2nd fireman grabs a 100’ high rise pack and connects it to the end of the 2.5 giving us 300’ of hose to use to fight any fire in the city. It’s also an easy way to extend the hose line indefinitely if we need to.

  7. Look up Susan bassi, you're welcome 😊

  8. So, this is the town where the Vice-mayor called for all the street gangs to join together, to fight federal agents? Why do all those little South-east County towns sound like cr@p and/or civic corruption?

  9. Last time I was in the area was for a wrestling show. I remember passing by what felt like 75 tire shops on the way there.

  10. I’m thoroughly impressed that you mentioned Gaza in that context.
All things considered that was worthy of everyone’s respect. Solid man.

  11. My Grandparents bought one of the railroad lots in the late 40s or early 50s. As a young boy I lived there 1967-69. A little history for some of my early memories is fantastic. Thanks.!

  12. I wonder if that slaughterhouse building still exists

  13. We could read the hog advertisement if you’d get your big fat head out of the way…

  14. Clicked on this just to hear that name said out loud. I've never even heard of this place and never been anywhere over there somehow lol

  15. BRO, that's my hometown. I lived there for 30 years.

  16. I remember someone saying that in the early 70s there was a small Cuban community their

  17. I didn’t know that Cudahy was an Irish name 😂 I always thought it was an Asian name belonging to some little-known tribe in western China. But now that you mention it being Irish, it does resemble ‘McConaughy’ if you take off the Mc.

  18. I always pronounced it "Su-dah-hee" 🤦🏻‍♂️

  19. I think that cities should stay out of world politics. Something they know little about.

  20. Fascinating history. Thank you!

  21. Great clip and appreciate you using a couple of my pics. Wishing you the best always!!!!
