Air Rescuers Save Injured Hiker From This RivCo Mountain Trail


PALM DESERT, CA — A hiker was rescued Monday after possibly suffering a medical emergency on a Palm Desert trail.

The rescue was reported shortly after 8:20 a.m. Monday on Painter’s Path, a path connected to the Bump and Grind Trail, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The injured hiker told authorities she was experiencing a medical episode, Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez said of the incident.

Due to her injuries and accessibility, the woman was airlifted from the mountain and taken to Eisenhower Medical Center by ground ambulance.

Identifying information on the hiker was not immediately available, nor was the nature of the emergency.

The Bump and Grind trail is considered a moderate hike, a loop trail that spans three miles, with hairpin turns that hikers must traverse about 1.25 miles in, according to Visit Greater Palm Springs.
