At least five people have died, and many others are injured as multiple fires rage across Southern California under historically dry and windy conditions.
Nearly 16,000 acres have been scorched in the Palisades Fire, which remains uncontained in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood. Tens of thousands of residents have been evacuated, with the fire destroying at least 300 structures and threatening over 13,300 more.
In Altadena, the Eaton Fire has expanded to over 10,000 acres with no containment reported, adding to the region’s crisis.
The Hurst Fire, northeast of San Fernando, has burned at least 700 acres, while the Lidia Fire in Acton has consumed 50 acres. Meanwhile, authorities have gained control of the Woodley Fire earlier this evening.
Adding to the chaos, the Sunset Fire ignited around 6 p.m. local time in the Runyon Canyon area of the Hollywood Hills, endangering residential neighborhoods.
