  1. FULL DISCLOSURE from a 30 year local………dont be fooled …….EVERYWHERE is crowded here in san diego 7 days a week…period. and thats not even the traffic…right now san diego is a close second to L.A as far as traffic…its gridlock on every freeway east , north south and west…7 days a week. the best time to travel is either very early in the morning or late at night..you have been warned.second…….DO NOT GO TO MIGUELS if you want authentic mexican food.. miguels is very watered down and poorly seasoned mexican food made for american palletes…if you want authentic mexican food ASK A LOCAL where they eat ..it will depend on the part of town you are in. also don't discount the use of the scooter rentals..if you are going a few blocks to somewhere where u dont want to walk use a scooter it can be cheap but dont' keep it all day thats how it gets expensive..

  2. Awesome video. Very helpful.

  3. Right on Jay! I haven't been to SD in many years but I found myself agreeing with pretty much all your points. As much as it's changed since I left in 1998 after fifteen years, some things haven't changed at all ! Cheers man

  4. CD scammers are around San Diego Comic Con and I canโ€™t stand them

  5. Of course you can get around San Diego on public transportation. You can hop on buses to the beaches. You can hop on a trolley down to the border. You can hop on buses to the popular tourist attractions around San Diego.

  6. Sea World. There are more gift shops than necessary there. Now that no outside food is allowed you're forced to pay super high prices for food and drinks.

  7. One definite scam. Unlicensed hot dog carts. No sanitation practices are in place.

  8. I fell for the CD scam when I first moved here back in April. Do yourself a favor and just keep walking. If you engage at all, you will be giving up some money. Tried the โ€œI donโ€™t have cashโ€ line but didnโ€™t matter. They got Venmo too. Walk as far away from them as you before passing by ๐Ÿ˜…

  9. ACTION KID !!!!!

  10. Hi, I will be staying at the Pacific Shores Inn by the Crystal pier. Do you think that would be using enough to get around if I had a rented car or is that area way too busy?

  11. Just dont drive south on the freeway Wednesday- Friday. Also driving east on a weekday is kind of backed up.. Your welcome.

  12. Super helpful! Thank you!

  13. Hey Jaycation.
Do a Balboa Park area with the museums and venues there.
Also, military and Veterans can get special pricing on tickets through ITT travel. There is a couple on Camp Pendleton. They use to ship tickets so find them and ask.

  14. I love the roller coaster at Belmont Park

  15. Have to disagree on public transit. Went everywhere, including La Jolla, via bus and trolley. Wonderful.

  16. thanks J

  17. Thanks for the warnings!

  18. Sea lions arenโ€™t dangerous itโ€™s the selfish, people that are dangerous to the sea lions sea lions are simply defending themselvesโ€ฆ.

  19. IDK if this is a scam or not, but watch out for those people who are standing in front of skincare shops or kiosks handing out samples. I was at Seaport Village while comic con was going on and was approached by a woman standing outside a skincare shop near a coffee and bagel place and she was asking me all sorts of personal questions and trying to sell me a $200 eye lotion made of ingredients you can find in a lotion for a fraction of the price elsewhere. These shops and kiosks are prevalent at areas tourists gather in San Diego and elsewhere, all sales are final (they usually make their refund policy as hard to find), and they use aggressive tactics once they get you to sit down for a demo. Someone in Las Vegas did a youtube video that explains it in more detail how this hustle targets vulnerable women tourists. Like the CD scammer, just don't stop for someone who is approaching you and please don't let them put something in your hands.

  20. Tourist traps: Seaport Village, Kansas City Barbecue, majority of restaurants in the Gaslamp, Mexican food in Old Town.

Must see: Coronado, Barrio Logan, restaurants in Liberty Station, Little Italy, and Convoy district. Hidden Gem: Torrey Pines Glider Port

  21. San Diego the real deal bro. Been there twice with friends and both times were thrilling!

  22. Great tips Jay!! Thanks for bringing back some San Diego content again. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’ฏ

  23. Watch the movie "The Beekeeper" all about scams

  24. Great content as always Jay! I first visited San Diego in Thanksgiving of 2022. Loved it sooo much, & your vids have helped me on everything there. I'd love to come back to SD hopefully later this year to see it a 2nd time. I miss the sunshine, the ocean, laid back California lifestyle, & especially the food. Carne Asada Fries from Roberto's & Nico's, along with Scallop Sandwiches at Point Loma Seafood, mannn I wanna try them both again, & eat more Asian food at Convoy District. Much love from a fellow loyal traveler & food lover from Dallas, Texas! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  25. tks Jaycation beautiful views

  26. Pedicabs are expensive?!?! On my bachelor party, I hopped in one around the block and my cousin had to cough up the fee ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  27. Great video Jaycation. The tourist trap regarding the US-Mexico border can also be applied to the US-Canada border to a certain extent as well particularly at the Blaine Washington/White Rock BC crossing. Apart from a few duty free shops that are very expensive & the Peace Arch, there isn't much to do besides those two things. In fact most people use the Blaine crossing to get gas or a quick bite to eat before crossing into Canada due to how expensive gas is in Canada.

  28. Thanks for the tips!
