To pontificate this piece, Tam O Shanter is one of the last two restaurants run & sponsored by the Lawry's Seasoning Co….+ the restaurant (along with a small batch of bungalow apartments [across the street from the John Marshall High School football field] in Silver Lake) inspired Walt Disney to CRE8 the story known as Snow White…BTW…R.I.P. Saugus Cafe…

Walt Disney and some of his animators would of eat at the Tam ‘O Shanter in Los Feliz, and draw pictures while waiting for their lunch. Outstanding short, thanks for sharing.

Saugus Cafe is reportedly just getting renovations from a change in ownership and will reopen when completed. Original Pantry has a similar rumor.

It sounds and feels so funny to me to call these early Mexican entrepreneurs, “Immigrants”, since California was part of Mexico up until 1850. I’m sure these people and their ancestors were native to the land.
@TheMILVSCR
Some random customer comes in, draws out a character with it's own name (and hopefully a back story lol), and they just went with it?! I can't imagine it'd be that simple nowadays.
@TrollbaFett
El Cholo is gringo food. I grew up in the neighborhood and El Cholo catered to office workers in downtown and the Wilshire District.
We locals went to El Jarrito for real Mexican food, but sadly they closed a while back with the demographic changes in the neighborhood, showing that El Cholo's customer base isn't locals and never was.
